How phones are taken on transport
Three moves cover most of it. Each one has a matching alarm.
The pocket dip
In a standing crowd, a hand slides into a jacket or back pocket. You feel nothing, because you are being bumped from every side anyway.
The lap grab
You doze off or look out of the window. The phone is on your lap or the seat beside you. Someone takes it as they walk past to the door.
The door snatch
You are using the phone near the doors. As they open at a stop, it is pulled out of your hand and the person is off the train before you react.
Pocket alarm for standing crowds
The Anti-Pickpocket alarm uses the proximity sensor, the same one that turns the screen off during calls. Arm it, put the phone in your pocket or bag, and the sensor sees darkness. The moment the phone comes out into the light, it beeps and then sirens, right where the thief is standing, with the flash going.
That is the point. A pickpocket relies on silence and a crowd that is not paying attention. A siren in a packed carriage removes both. Most will drop the phone rather than hold something that is screaming and flashing.
Arm it before you board, during the 10-second countdown, and put it away. When you reach your stop, take it out, let the beep start and enter your PIN. It becomes a habit in a week.

Earphone alarm for sleepy rides
If you listen with wired or USB-C earphones and tend to close your eyes, the earphone removal alarm is for you. A thief who takes the phone has to unplug the cable, and that unplug is the trigger. You get a beep in your ears, then the siren.
It works only with wired and USB earphones, because those are the ones that physically disconnect. Bluetooth earbuds are not supported.
Motion alarm for the phone on your lap
Sitting down with the phone on your lap or the seat next to you? Arm Don't Touch My Phone and lower the sensitivity a few steps, because a moving train shakes everything. The alarm should fire when the phone is lifted, not when the carriage sways.
Honestly, the pocket alarm is the better choice on transport. Use the motion alarm when you want the phone on a surface and in view, and a pocket is not an option.
After a theft: ring, locate, lost mode
If the phone is gone anyway, and you set up Remote Access beforehand, you still have options from any browser or from a friend's phone.

Sign in at alert24.in
Open the Remote Access dashboard with the same Google account you used in the app. Your phone appears in the list if remote control was enabled on it.

Ring it
Find My Device makes the phone sound the alarm at full volume, even if it is on silent. If it is still in the carriage, everyone will know.

Locate it
Location History shows the last position your phone reported, plus the place of every intruder photo. Do not go and confront anyone. Give the location to the police.

Mark it lost

Habits that matter more than any app
The alarm is your backup. These are the front line.
- Front pocket, inside pocket or a zipped bag worn in front. Back pockets are for other people's hands.
- Put the phone away before the doors open. The door snatch works because the phone is in your hand at the exact moment an exit appears.
- Face away from the doors when you use the phone standing up.
- If you feel a bump and a tug at the same time, check your pockets straight away.
