The scenario: phone in lap, earphones in, eyes closed
Long commutes, night buses, a quiet corner of the library. You put on your earphones, the phone rests on your lap or the seat next to you, and after a while you stop paying attention. Someone sitting nearby only has to lift the phone and pull the plug.
With the earphone removal alarm armed, that pull triggers a warning beep and then the siren, at full volume, through the phone's own speaker. The alarm screen covers the display and asks for your PIN, pattern, knock code or fingerprint. The front camera takes a photo as the siren starts.
How to use it with wired and USB-C earphones
The alarm can only be armed while earphones are connected. If nothing is plugged in, the app asks you to connect the earphones first.
- 1
Plug in your earphones
A 3.5 mm jack or USB-C earphones both work. The app detects a wired audio device.
- 2
Open the EarPhone Removal tab and tap Activate
It is the fourth tab on the dashboard. After the 10-second countdown the card shows the alarm is active. Turn on Flash and Vibrate if you like.
- 3
Listen as usual
Music, podcasts and calls work normally. If the earphones are unplugged, the beep plays for 5 seconds by default, then the siren.
- 4
Unplugging them yourself
Unlock the phone during the beep and the alarm cancels. Or open Alert24 and tap the card to disarm before you take them out.
Auto-arm on connect, pause in trusted places
Tap the automation icon on the dashboard and switch on EarPhone in the Automation panel. The alarm then arms itself every time you plug earphones in, and the tab shows Auto Activated. You can plug in, press play and relax.
So that it does not ring when you take your earphones out at home or at your desk, save those spots as trusted places or your Wi-Fi there as a safe network. Automatic earphone alarms pause there and for 30 minutes after you choose pause on the alarm screen. When the alarm arms somewhere new, Alert24 offers to save the location. See the trusted places and auto-arm page.

Earphone removal alarm: questions
Does it work with USB-C earphones?
Yes. Both 3.5 mm and USB-C wired earphones are detected. Bluetooth earphones are not.
Can I still take calls with the alarm armed?
Yes. The alarm only reacts when the earphones are disconnected. During a call no alarm sounds at all, so a call is never interrupted.
Does it need internet or location?
No. It works offline. Location is optional and only used for trusted places and for the address on intruder photos.
Is the earphone removal alarm free?
Yes, with ads. Premium removes the ads and adds Remote Access.
